Meet Arra

Arra Fletcher is a Scottish ceramic designer and maker, working with traditional mould-making and slip-casting techniques to create ceramics that balance form, function, and use.

Trained in mould-making in Glasgow in the 1990s, he began his career running a pottery shop on his native Islay, producing household pieces, whisky jugs for the island’s distilleries, and decorative works celebrating Islay’s history and identity.

Now based in central Scotland and returning to ceramics after a creative break, his new work reflects a more exploratory design approach. Drawing inspiration from nature, architecture, art, and sci-fi, he combines his traditional craftsmanship with 21st-century design technologies such as CAD and 3D modelling.

Each piece is hand cast from his moulds, glazed, and finished individually, in tones that highlight texture and form. At the heart of his work is a simple idea: “Art. Made. Useful.” It reflects a view that ceramics can be both functional and beautiful — objects designed to be lived with and enjoyed every day.

Designed and made in Scotland, each piece reflects a lifelong fascination with form, craftsmanship, and the beauty of handmade design.
